WATCH: South Florida Pets Recovering, Need Your Support After Irma

About 100 of South Florida's unwanted pets are being relocated from Miami-Dade Animal Services to the ASPCA's Irma emergency shelter.

The ASPCA says another 45 animals are also being transferred from the Arni Foundation in Daytona. A total of nearly 300 animals have been moved from Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.

The 40,000 square foot emergency shelter is located in Duncan, South Carolina. The animals are being cared for by ASPCA staffers who traveled from around the country to lend a hand.

The plan is to house the animals until ASPCA partner groups can take them and put them up for adoption.

The ASPCA is also setting up distribution centers in Duncan and Miami to provide pet supplies to affected areas. To learn more and to donate, click here.

Similarly, the Humane Society of Broward County is getting back into the swing of normal operation following the storm.

Prior to Irma hitting the area, HSBC transported more than 150 local, adoptable animals safely to California. They have also sheltered and cared for 300 animals in need.

During the process, HSBC says they "...drew upon personal resources to make all of these operations happen. Unfortunately, there are still many pets to care for, and we are still without power and running low on supplies."

The Humane Society of Broward County’s Animal Admissions Department is currently open.

If you have found a stray animal, or if you find yourself in a position where you can no longer care for your pet, you can surrender that animal here. HSBC asks that everyone call ahead of their trip to ensure they are open: 954-266-6873.

They are also asking for the public's help. Anyone "able to make a donation to help us care for the animals until we can resume normal operations, that help would be very much appreciated," says HSBC.
