'Storm Chasers' Star Joel Taylor Dead At 38

Discovery's Storm Chaser star Joel Taylor has died from a suspected overdose on the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line Harmony ship, according to a new report from TMZ.

Passengers on the ship told TMZ that there was an abundance of drug activity on the cruise's dancefloor, particularly ecstasy and cocaine, and the 38-year-old was partaking during his time on the ship. One passenger, who interacted with the star, revealed that Joel had enough GHB on the dancefloor that he went unconscious and had to be returned back to his room by two other passengers. Olivia Newton-John and Galantis were among the entertainment for the night.

A Royal Caribbean Cruise Line Harmony representative told TMZ that Taylor was found unresponsive in his cabin on Tuesday (January 23). Law enforcement was alerted of his state when the boat arrived in San Juan, Puerto Rico. "It appears the death could be an overdose and Joel Taylor was consuming controlled substances," they later told TMZ.

Additionally, Reed Timmer, Taylor's partner on the hit Discover show, paid homage to his "best friend" in a Twitter post. "RIP my best friend and storm chasing partner, Joel Taylor," he wrote. "I am shocked and absolutely devastated by the loss of my incredible, caring friend. We chased so many intense storms, and I wish we could have just one more storm chase. I'll miss you forever, Joel. We lost a legend."
