Judas Priest's Rob Halford Wants To Judge On 'RuPaul's Drag Race'

Judas Priest's frontman Rob Halford wants in on the Rock &Roll Hall of Fame, but the rock icon also wants to get his foot in the door on RuPaul's Drag Race.

In a recent interview with Yahoo Entertainment, the gay British star, 68, spoke about his fandom over the VH1 series, suggesting that he'd love to "get all the drag queens in full-on metal" for a challenge. "I am a RuPaul’s Drag Face fan," he admitted. "I just love that show just for every emotional dimension of what’s being presented… the interaction, and the support, and the fun, and the bitchiness, and all this kind of stuff. It’s great. It’s a beautiful insight to a part of our world and it’s really important. It has a tremendous amount of value."

Halford, who came out as gay live on MTV in 1998, went on to admit that shows like Drag Race and Queer Eye are "wonderful opportunities" for audiences to get acquainted with the LGBTQ community. "Just to look and listen and learn," he said. "That whole thing about we are your bus driver, we are your nurse at school, we are your judge court. We’re their airline pilot. We are everywhere. Just taking away and destroying this horrible pushback that we have."

"Even today we’re about to get to 2020 and we still have to talk about this," Halford continued. "We’ve been practically ignored by this current administration. We were forging so far ahead with the previous administration, and now we are pushed to the sidelines, and I think that’s a terrible disservice. It’s insulting. And thank God that [Trump] won’t last forever."

Among the other candidates up for nominations at the 2020 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony include Whitney Houston, Dave Matthews Band, The Notorious B.I.G., Soundgarden, The Doobie Brothers, Motörhead, Pat Benatar, T. Rex Thin Lizzy and more.
