Governor Ron DeSantis Gives Florida The Okay To Open Beaches, Criticized

In a news conference held in Fort Lauderdale, Governor Ron DeSantis gave Florida municipalities the green light to start opening up parks and beaches beginning today, Friday. If they open up Miami Beach will you be heading out there this weekend?

DeSantis stated he felt it was important for people to have outlets for getting exercise, sunshine, and fresh air. He felt this was okay, so long as it was done safely while still following social distancing guidelines.

Duval County was among the first to open its beaches for limited hours. Mayor Lenny Curry allowed for walking, biking, hiking, fishing, running, swimming, taking care of pets and surfing from 6 to 11 a.m. and 5 to 8 p.m.
