H.E.R. Covers 'Nothing Compares 2 U' For In Memoriam Tribute At 2020 Emmys

H.E.R. put on a soul-baring tribute performance at the 2020 Emmys.

The R&B songbird, whose real name is Gabriella Wilson, made her Emmys debut this weekend by delivering this year's "In Memoriam" segment at the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday night (September 20).

Flexing her haunting vocals in an arresting rendition of Prince's “Nothing Compares 2 U,” Wilson set the mood for the evening as viewers at home watched and remembered the stars we lost during this difficult and unprecedented year, including Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Chadwick Boseman, Naya Rivera, Jerry Stiller, Regis Philbin, Diana Rigg and others.

The 23-year-old songbird rocked a stunning custom fuchsia silk charmeuse Vera Wang dress that featured floral print and vibrant neon orange piping and completed the look with a long braided ponytail and stylish shades.

Earlier in the day, the 23-year-old songbird told E! News how excited she was to perform tonight's "In Memoriam" tribute.

"I'm definitely gonna be bringing out some instruments and I think it's going to be very emotional," Wilson teased of her showcase, after making her comfy-chic fashion statement on the virtual red carpet. "And that's all I'm gonna say. I want it to be special, I want it to be a surprise, but I think you're gonna love it."
