Justin Timberlake opened up about his fears concerning how fame will impact his children.
On Monday (January 25), the “SexyBack” crooner — who shares sons Silas, 5, and Phineas, who’s almost one, with actress wife Jessica Biel — made a guest appearance on a new episode of Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast to discuss what concerns him most about raising his kids in the spotlight.
“I try to be conscious of making sure we can live a life where we’re not weirdly private but we’re conscious of making sure they can be kids for as long as possible. And not have the weight of somebody else treating them differently because of something that their parents do,” Timberlake, 39, explained on the show.
“I have that great fear that kids are going to hang out with them solely because of that or resent them because of that,” added Shepard, who is notably protective about the privacy of his two daughters with wife Kristen Bell.
Later, Shepard jokingly warns the musician that his kids will “probably make other kids jealous” about having celebrity parents.
“Yeah, we have this same thing where, like, the kids at school with my five-year-old are like, ‘Your dad is Branch,’” Timberlake responded. “For guys like us, you know, the hope is that we just keep instilling in them that we got really fun jobs, but it’s not who we are.”
Timberlake’s new interview comes weeks after he confirmed he and Biel secretly welcomed their baby boy in 2020 during his guest spot on The Ellen DeGeneres Show — watch the moment here.
