US District Judge Mark Pittman blocked the President's student loan forgiveness plan.
The Texas judge, an appointee of Trump, ruled that the President's administration did not have "clear congressional authorization" to create the loan forgiveness program.
"In this country, we are not ruled by an all-powerful executive with a pen and a phone. Instead, we are ruled by a Constitution that provides for three distinct and independent branches of government...The Court is not blind to the current political division in our country. But it is fundamental to the survival of our Republic that the separation of powers as outlined in our Constitution be preserved."
Although The Whitehouse has not commented on the latest obstacle set forth by the Texas judge, they are still encouraging people to apply for loan forgiveness as they plan to continue fighting to get checks to millions of Americans affected by student loan debt.
