Movie Theater Worker Arrested For Creating Child Porn Through AI

The arrest of a man in Vero Beach could serve as a litmus test with regards to charging someone with child pornography when the "children" in the images are AI.

38-year old Phillip Michael McCorkle was busted last night at the Majestic movie theater where he works after two cyber tips claimed he was creating the porn through artificial intelligence and then distributing it on the Kik app.

Indian River Sheriff Eric Flowers tells CBS 12 News that McCorkle faces 20 counts of obscenity...for now.

"The average person would probably look at this child pornography and say man that looks very real to me, but there may be that person who plays a lot of video games who may think No, I know this isn't a real person."

He's hopeful that a grand jury elevates the charges based on a new law that specifically targets computer-generated child porn, but the law relies on perception.
