Springfield, Ohio's most famous son, John Legend, is in the spotlight after giving some unsolicited advice to the residents of his hometown.

In an Instagram post from the comfort of his multi-million-dollar Beverly Hills mansion, the singer told the town's residents to 'embrace' the new influx of 20,000 Haitian migrants.

The population of Springfield before the immigration influx was 58,000.

'He's just like you. Except he doesn't live in Springfield. He lives in a multimillion-dollar mansion in Beverly Hills,' one person wrote on social media.

Another post on social media mocked that "John Legend says the people of Springfield, Ohio should just accept the Haitians and their weird "dietary preferences."

Later in the statement Legend states: 'Nobody's eating cats. Nobody's eating dogs.'

The claims that the Haitian migrants were eating pets began in town hall meetings where angry residents begged the town to take action.

Then during this week's presidential debate, Donald Trump famously declared that "In Springfield, they're eating the dogs, they're eating the cats, they're eating the pets of the people who live there."

While city officials and police say there is no evidence of pet-eating, but the residents of Springfield say it is a problem.
