For 20 years, American Airlines has sponsored the biggest place for concerts in the 305. It also happened to be the home to the Miami Heat. In 2020 it will no longer be called the American Airlines Arena. Today, American Airlines announced they will be giving up the naming rights of the Miami Arena.
Miami-Dade County says they are in talks with a national company to replace the naming rights. American Airlines has been the named sponsor of the arena for the last 20 years, opening on December 31st, 1999.
According to the company statement, American Airlines will remain as the official airline of the Miami Heat.
Reactions have been pouring in and people are starting to get creative.
