Pembroke Pines Principal Teaches The Importance Of Kindness

Elaine Saef is a Pembroke Pines principal that's promoting school success. However, it has nothing to do with grades or test scores. Instead, she's encouraging students to participate in the “caring culture”. A program where kids design their own service projects, including collecting donations for nonprofit organizations and visiting nursing homes.

Saef wants to teach students the importance of kindness and compassion. On NBC 6 she said, “I really believe in teaching children about caring for others, kindness, and making a difference in the world."

Principal Saef has been the principal at Panther Run Elementary for 13 years. She says that the mission is simple and yet universal.

“If I can have this wave of kindness going up as they go through middle school and high school and then into the real world, later on, I’m hoping we can make a difference in the future,” Saef said. “I think the world could be a better place if everybody was kind to each other.”
