Let's be honest, there are nearly zero companies that compare to Amazon, right? Well, Walmart is hoping to up the ante with the launch of a new membership service. The service is said to compete with Amazon Prime.
It's called Walmart+ and it will cost you $98 a year, or $12.95 a month. You'll get same-day delivery on 160,000 items, a discount of up to 5 cents a gallon at Murphy gas stations, or at the Walmart locations that have gas pumps. Walmart said it’s working to add more gas-station chains to its list. Lastly, Walmart+ members can unlock an app to scan items as they shop and pay without having to stop at a cashier. Avoiding long lines, now that's a big plus.
However, Walmart+ members will still have to spend at least $35 online to qualify for free shipping.
The company said Walmart+ will launch Sept. 15.
