Hispanic Barbies

Over the years, Mattel has taken steps to add more diversity to their Barbie doll collection.

This month, in honor of #HispanicHistoryMonth, they are introducing two new dolls. One is Celia Cruz, a Cuban-American singer known as the "Queen of Salsa." She recorded more than 80 albums and won five Grammys. For those who know, Celia will probably be saying 'AZUCAR' to this launch.

The other doll is Julia Alvarez, a Dominican-American poet and acclaimed writer. She reacted on Instagram, saying she hopes this can "encourage young Latinas to share their gifts with the world." The dolls are part of Barbie's Role Model collection.
