Sadly, a 21-foot orca died after washing ashore on a beach in Palm Coast yesterday. A video posted by the sheriff's office shows the orca lying lifeless on its side on the beach as waves crashed into it.

We're used to seeing orcas in colder waters like Antarctica, Norway, and Alaska and it is very unknown to see an orca in warmer waters but according to NOAA, killer whales can also be found in tropical and subtropical waters.

Officials were called to the scene to help remove the orca with the help of SeaWorld and L Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission. The cause of death is still unknown and officials said a necropsy would be performed.
