Sargassum seaweed is already popping up on Fort Lauderdale Beach and it's not looking good.

Typically, we have to worry about the stinky seaweed making its way to our coast in the summertime, but it appears it's got different plans this year. The brown algae doesn't smell good at all after a hot sunny day and to top it all off, it is hazardous to our health. Experts say it can trigger respiratory problems for those with asthma.

The blob of seaweed is almost, if not bigger than last year's and is already affecting the environment around. The length of the Sargassum seaweed is about 5,500 miles long and is an eyesore for locals and upcoming spring breakers.

To prevent the pile from growing; the City of Fort Lauderdale has already removed 500 yards of the potent seaweed.

The hope now is that the issue doesn't grow any bigger in the upcoming months, specially this summer.
