It looks like there won't be a curfew this weekend in Miami Beach.
After struggling with spring break violence that included two fatal shootings and disruptive crowds over the weekend, City of Miami Beach commissioners voted down the measure to implement a curfew next weekend. The decision won in a 4-3 vote after a heated debate between city representatives, business owners, and residents. During a meeting on Monday afternoon, the panel did decide to force liquor stores in the South Beach to close at 6pm.
It is important to nota that officials did point out that the city manager still has emergency authority to order a 72-hour curfew despite the commission’s decision.
