"Crack" In Broward Highway Is Actually Normal

Most people turn to social media to share their day to day and a few days ago a driver in Broward spotted what appeared to be a gap along a part of I-75. Of course, that got some attention and brought up safety concerns. However, it appears that we now have an answer.

The Florida Department of Transportation sent out some engineers when they got some calls from worried drivers. They confirmed it was safe and took to social media to make sure everyone understood why this gap is normal. FDOT also posted pictures of the expansion joint on the segmental bridge in question.

On their post, FDOT said, "Expansion joints like the ones on the segmental bridge connecting I-595 and Sawgrass Expressway in Broward allow the bridge segments to safely expand and contract with changes in temperature. This is what the joints look like." I guess with these extremely high temperatures the bridge also needed some breathing room.
