Friday kicks off the 41st annual Art Deco Weekend in South Florida -- the longest running, cultural festival in Miami Beach.
The festival, started in 1976 by the Miami Design Preservation League (MDPL), celebrates the best of our Miami Beach’s architecture, preservation, education, history, advocacy, art, culture and entertainment.
Throughout the weekend, residents and guests can enjoy over 85 unique events, including (but not limited to):
- Guided tours (of Ocean Drive, Lincoln Road, etc.)
- Fashion shows
- The "Bark Deco" dog show
- Live music
- Car shows
- Lectures
- Museums
- Films
- More!

The festival takes place from Friday to Sunday:
- Friday, 1/12 from 12 - 10 p.m.
- Saturday 1/13 from 10 a.m. - 10 p.m.
- Sunday 1/14 from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.

"We [MDPL] want to bring people out, we want to tell them about architecture, we want them to hear the music all through the ages," says Art Deco Weekend Chairperson Lauri Bakkum. "[The event] really does benefit our organization and the whole community."
The fun doesn't stop there!
Also this weekend is the 67th annual Beaux Arts Festival Of Art.
The first Beaux Arts Festival of Art was held in 1952, giving young artists a chance to meet the buying public. The Festival of Art became an annual project and is now a juried show with over 200 participating artists in 10 different mediums.
The 2018 Festival Of Art will feature exhibiting artists in the following categories:
- 3D sculpture
- Ceramics
- Glass
- Graphics / drawing
- Jewelry
- Mixed media
- Oil & acrylic
- Photography
- Watercolor
- Wood
