Ariana Grande donated $83,000 to Florida’s leading transgender and nonbinary-focused nonprofit, TransSocial. The grant has allowed them to open not one, but two physical locations in South Florida.
Ariana is a longtime supporter of the LGBT+ community. With the help of her label, Republic Records they chose TransSocial as one of the 18 trans organizations across the United States to benefit from the her online fundraiser, Protect & Defend Youth Fund. It's since raised over 3 million dollars.
TransSocial started in 2016, and has since helped provide affirming care to transgender individuals, including name changes, medical referrals, legal resources and mental health services. All programs offered by TransSocial are free. TransSocial are also the only organization in Florida to offer HRT copay assistance for free.
All programs offered by TransSocial are free. The two new hubs will help to foster LGBT+ communities within Broward and Miami, and will serve as a safe space for trans people. The centers are respectively named "Joy" and "Liberation".
