Speeding is obviously bad, especially in a school zone. This one deputy, however, decided to do things a little differently...

Col. Lou Caputo, a 37-year veteran of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office down in the Florida Keys has dressed up as the Grinch every holiday season for the past 20 years.

Why? Well, he wants to stop people from speeding through an elementary school zone on the Florida Keys Overseas Highway.

Motorists who are driving 5 mph or less above the speed limit have the option between receiving an odorous onion as a reminder to slow down, or a traffic citation. Those who go over that 5 mph limit receive a costly ticket.

Caputo says that the grinch costume calls attention in a nice way to the need to obey speed limits in school zones, as it "catches them off guard."
