Universal Orlando Resort filed paperwork today to build a SunRail station in Orlando.

They pledged 13 acres for a commuter rail station that could link the Orlando airport with the tourism district.

Universal will be responsible for maintaining the SunRail station located at the Orange County Convention Center. The line would connect the main corridor of Orlando's tourism industry with Orlando International Airport, and is expected to be completed as soon as 2030.

Currently, the Sunrail does not have any stops at the Orlando Airport or the tourism district.

The new line also will connect visitors to Brightline, which currently serves Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. Brightline will be expanding to the Orlando Airport later this year.
