Mattel is launching its first-ever Barbie doll with Down syndrome.

To help children see themselves in doll form, the company partnered with the National Down Syndrome Society to help make the dolls come alive. The doll was unveiled on "Good Morning America," and Kayla, who has Down syndrome, helped reveal the Barbie and explained the doll's appearance.

"This Barbie serves as a reminder that we should never underestimate the power of representation," said NDSS president and CEO Kandi Pckard. "It is a huge step forward for inclusion and a moment that we are celebrating."
