What's In The Box: Esthero

Once a week we're gonna hit the record store and dig into the crates to see What's In The Box, where we find diamonds. Esthero is a singer from Canada who with Martin "Doc" McKinney, formed a music duo named after herself. As, Esthero the group hit the scene with the album "Breath From Another" which spawned the hit "Heaven Sent" and the sexy underground classic "Superheroes". By 1998, however her label The WORK Group would dissolve and free of her contract Esthero would sign to reprise as a solo act.

Going into the 2000's she would collab with The Black Eyed Peas, Ian Pooley, DJ Krush, and Danny Saber on soundtrack songs and singles. Esthero was a voiced heavily used by producers and dj's and to hear her in the dance music remix scene became commonplace. By the middle of the decade she would release the cult hit single O.G. Bitch and the EP "We R in Need of a Musical Revolution", which would lead to he solo debut album "Wikked Lil' Grrrls", featuring Sean Lennon, André 3000, and Cee-Lo Green.

Esthero would go on to release various singles through the years most recently she dropped "Baby Steps" & "Gimme Some Time" in 2019 and the more rock influenced "Emotional Animal" in 2020. With an eclectic anchor in the Trip-Hop sound of the 90's, Esthero's style is galvanized by her smooth voice that stands tall alongside other rare voices like Sade, Bjork, and Beth Gibbons.
