Hillsborough Shelter Holds Adoption Party for Dogs and Cats

TAMPA -- Hillsborough County's animal shelter is 30 percent over capacity for dogs. For cats, it's even worse... five times the normal limit thanks to spring kittens. Both populations are at around 300 apiece.

Volunteer coordinator Chelsea Waldeck says they're holding an adoption party this Saturday at the Shelter on Falkenburg Road. They've waiving adoption fees for this event. People will be able to wander around the kennels and meet potential pets. They also have "fostering" options for those who'd like to try a pet out short-term.

The event goes Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The shelter is at 419 Falkenburg Road on the east end of Tampa.
