Gov. Ron DeSantis issues an executive order mandating that anyone arriving on a flight from New York City, or the surrounding area, must submit to self-quarantine for at least two weeks.
The Governor said that more than 100 flights from NYC arrive daily to Florida and he believes each contains at least one person infected with coronavirus.
He said people arrive on these flights will be screened and told they must self-quarantine.
They will also not be allowed to stay with family or friends, because that is one way the virus is spread.
Although he did not specify exactly how it would legally be enforced it is still deemed a criminal offense that if violated will could result in up to 60 days in jail.
