The City of Miami announced plans to distribute more than $8.5 million to businesses and residents who have been financially impacted by COVID-19.
According to Local 10, the plan is funded by federal money from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
Commissioners for the City of Miami have decided they will allocate $5 million to small businesses.
This small businesses can receive a grant of up to $20,000 if they have not received other federal assistance yet.
$3.4 million will be allocated to residents who upon applying can receive a $250 grocery gift card but they have to prove they live within the City of Miami and have been financially impacted during the pandemic.
City officials say they will release more details about how and when to apply in the coming days.
