A military explosive training device washed up on the beach on Easter Sunday in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea.
The large device was not an actual explosive but rather a training device with the word “inert” written across it.
The training sea mine was discovered by a Broward Sheriff’s Office deputy Sunday morning.
BSO deputies, the bomb squad, and members of the U.S. Air Force were called to the beach to inspect and handle the situation.
They determined the device was a sea mine and safely removed it from the shore.
The BSO Bomb Squad and Air Force personnel eventually cleared the area and deemed the beach safe.
Now the situation is under investigation as this is the second time military training devices have washed up on South Florida beaches
