Year after year, the iHeartRadio Music Awards shines the spotlight on a multitude of genres, alternative rock included. Among this year's big winners were The Chainsmokers and Zedd.

Dance Song song of the year went to Zedd and Alessia Cara's collab "Stay." The song was nominated alongside alt hits including Cheat Codes & Demi Lovato's "No Promises," Clean Bandit's "Rockabye" featuring Sean Paul & Anne-Marie, The Chainsmokers & Coldplay's "Something Just Like This," and Kygo & Selena Gomez's "It Ain't Me."

Zedd

The Chainsmokers took home the award for Dance Artist of the Year, a category they were nominated in alongside Calvin Harris, Cheat Codes, Kygo, and Zedd. And the duo also took home the award for Best Collaboration, a socially voted category for their single with Coldplay, "Something Just Like This."

Drew and Alex accepted their Best Collaboration Award on stage, and said in their acceptance speech:

"First of all, we gotta give a massive shoutout to Coldplay. Coldplay was and is one of our biggest influences, and being able to work with a group like that is something that we thought would never happen. And we learned so much from the process of working with them about your own musical identity, how to grow into yourself, about what songs mean for the world. So shout out to Chris and the band, shoutout to iHeartRadio for always supporting us, shoutout to Columbia [Records]. Thank you, [and] shout out to our fans for voting for this."

The guys were also nominated Best Duo/Group of the Year, Song of the Year, and Dance Song of the Year.

Additionally The Chainsmokers also took home the iHeartRadio Music Award for Dance Album of the Year with their debut full-length album Memories...Do Not Open. The album was the guys' debut full-length album, and features hits like "Something Just Like This," "Paris," and more.
