Drake is never shy when it comes to giving folks their flowers while they're still around to smell them --- so it comes as no so surprise that he gave an impassioned toast at Lil Wayne's private birthday bash.

On Monday night, the "Way 2 Sex"y rapper reportedly hosted a party for his former YMCMB boss at a Miami hotspot Swan to celebrate the Louisiana rapper's 39th birthday. In true Certified Lover Boy form, Drizzy grabbed the mic and made a toast at the star studded birthday bash, letting Wayne know just how much of an impact he's made on the 6 God's life and career. Holding a champagne flute, Drake shared:

“We don’t get a chance to gather as a family much anymore. I still, to this day, get nervous speaking about this man because, at the end of the day, as much of a brother and a mentor as he is to me, he’s still my idol. And still somebody who just puts me in a place where, when I start thinking about him, I start thinking about my family.”

According to reports, the DJ played songs that featured both Drake and Lil Wayne all night. One party goer told Page Six:

“[Drake] was vibing along to his music and taking [Don Julio] 1942 shots all night with his friends and lots of girls. They bought out the whole restaurant and had a line of people trying to get into the exclusive event all the way around the block of [the] Miami Design District."

But the love didn't stop there. Drake took to Instagram to share photos from the eventful night; one in particular he posted, paying homage to his former Young Money, who he started out with when Lil Wayne signed him in 2009. The record breaking rapper simply captioned the post:

"YM FOREVER AND EVER"

Celebrity guests at the star studded bash included Quavo, Ray J, FoodGod, YK Osiris, Maino, Preme, David Grutman and more, who reportedly received party swag items upon entering the party --- such as customized bandanas with phrases such as “Best Rapper Alive,” “Mr Carter” and “Weezy,” stitched on the them.

Despite all the love and comradery, fans are still entertaining the idea of a Lil Wayne and Drake Verzuz.

Only time will tell if the brothers will ever go head up in a hit battle.
