The Proud Family Is Coming Back And Headed To Disney+

With the launch of Disney+, rumors shortly followed of a The Proud Family reboot, and in a recent interview one of the cartoon’s stars, JoMarie Payton who voices the character Suga Mama has confirmed a revival is in the works.

While on ABC's Strahan, Sara and Keke, when Keke Palmer asked if the actress is similar to Suga Mama, Payton replied “Yeah, Suga’s large and in charge. That’s all I’ve got to say — except for Suga Mama will be doing some new episodes come February.” After, Palmer asked to confirm with excitement if the show would be on Disney+.

This is the second occurrence this year where a character on the show has teased a nostalgic comeback of the cartoon. In August, Tommy Davison who plays Oscar Proud revealed, "I forgot to tell you that, The Proud Family is coming back. Proud Family's coming back. It's on one of Disney's streaming (services). Yeah, Proud Family's coming back. They told me not to tell episodes!".

The show originally premiered on Disney Channel from 2001-2005. Disney+ has yet to provide a statement.
