Substance That Could Make Dogs Ill Found At Fort Lauderdale Beach

If you have plans to head to the beach this weekend, officials are warning owners to keep a close eye on your four-legged friends.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue officials say a substance, believed to be palm oil was found.

The substance is used as a fuel source and international laws allow boat crew to dump the oil at sea. Although the oil itself isn’t toxic, the bacteria it is often mixed with can be.

Experts say if dogs ingest palm oil found on the beach they may experience vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration, to name a few symptoms.
