Meag Taylor's Movie Review: Black And Blue

Earlier this week, I had a chance to watch the advance screening of Black and Blue Movie thanks to Allied Global Marketing and Landmark Theaters in Merrick Park. It was a girl's night outing, so once we arrived at the theater we were instantly greeted with gift bags filled with lipstick from Black Opal, face masks (my self-care fave), and drink tickets to the on-site bar. The best part, we were able to bring our bar drinks (red wine for me) inside the theater.

Since my radio sister, Stichiz was sick, I filled in for her as the movie host. It was so awesome to meet so many women-led organizations from around South Florida enjoying themselves for the night.

Black and Blue movie was action packed from start to finish as it tells the story of Alicia West (Naoemi Harris) standing up to her coworkers and defending her moral compass and former neighborhood. The bad-ass Alicia West is a 'shero' who served in the Army and fought in Afghanistan - she has no family and decides to move back to her hometown of New Orleans and help her community as a police officer. She runs into her former friend Milo Jackson played by singer/actor Tyrese and they take on the rogue officers of NOPD and gang-members in less than 24 hours.

It's an amazing movie that had the audience in the theater cheering for Alicia when she would beat up the bad guys or shoot at rogue officers with high-powered guns.

As a woman, I left the theater feeling empowered to do what is right and to help my community in any way I can.

Make sure you check out Black and Blue movie on October 25th!
