Tropical Storm Fay Forms

The National Hurricane Center began issuing advisories on Tropical Storm Fay Thursday afternoon. Fay is the earliest "F" named storm on record.

There is no threat to South Florida as forecasters expect Fay will bring heavy rainfall and gusty winds to parts of the mid-Atlantic coast and southern New England.

A tropical storm warning is in effect from Cape May, New Jersey north to Watch Hill, Rhode Island. The warning area includes Long Island and Long Island Sound.

Fay could see some strengthening before moving inland and weakening on Saturday. The NHC does not expect tropical formation elsewhere over the next five days.
