History has been made in Miami-Dade as its first female mayor, Daniella Levine Cava, was sworn in to office last night. She will replace Carlos Gimenez who served as mayor since 2011. The ceremony was held yesterday at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, but it was not open to the public. Levine Cava beat Commissioner Esteban Bovo for the job, garnering 54% of the vote.
Levine Cava said she's building a Response and Recovery Task Force that will draft a roadmap to battle the public health and economic problem. With a rising number in COVID cases, Levine Cava plans to review current restrictions and draft new ones as necessary, along with a curfew.
