Have you looked up at the nighttime sky this week? If so, you may have seen the Christmas Star. It's not necessarily a star though, the bright light is actually a conjunction of two planets- Jupiter and Saturn. Since Monday, stargazers have been able to see the conjunction in the night sky and it will remain visible until Christmas.
Turns out this is a pretty rare occurrence. This is the closest the two planets have been in 800 years! Though these two planets do cross each other's paths every 20 years. The light they create will be most visible just after sunset each night.
Their next super-close pairing: March 15, 2080.
