Walt Disney World is gearing up for an 18-month long celebration for its 50th anniversary! All four parks will be participating in festivities beginning on October 1st.
On Oct. 1, 1971, the resort opened to guests, culminating years spent planning and developing Walt Disney's “magical dream," officials said. So what can we expect during the celebration?
There's going to be a new nighttime show at Magic Kingdom called "Disney Enchantment." The show will have enhanced lighting, fireworks and immersive projection effects that extend from the Cinderella Castle down Main Street, U.S.A.
At Animal Kingdom, “Disney KiteTails" will feature performers flying windcatchers and kites at the Discovery River to the beat of favorite Disney songs. EPCOT will have “one of the largest nighttime spectaculars ever created for a Disney park," called "Harmonious." All your favorite Disney characters are getting a new look too. Characters will get new sparkling custom-made costumes!
