We've all been watching the heartbreaking videos and photos of how bad Hurricane Ian devastated Naples, Fort Myers and other areas on the west coast of Florida. I don't know about you, but I've felt completely helpless watching that happen to our friends and family over on that side. Relief efforts are under way though if you've been looking for ways to help.

The Florida Disaster Fund assists Florida's communities as they respond to and recover during times of emergency or disaster. You can donate online or text "DISASTER" to 20222 to make a donation.

You can also donate online to the Red Cross or text "IAN" to 90999 to make a $10 donation. The group is also asking for blood donors.

Convoy of Hope is providing groceries to impacted communities in Florida.

The Save the Children fund, donates child-focused items to kids preparing for and recovering from disasters in the U.S. and around the world. The organization said it has prepared supplies and mobilized an emergency response team to help Florida families.

Project HOPE has a response team in Florida prepared with medicine, water and other supplies.

The Greater Miami Jewish Federation has created a relief fund for those impacted by Hurricane Ian. You can donate online or you can also make a check payable to the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, 4200 Biscayne Boulevard, in Miami, Florida 33137. Write “Hurricane Ian Relief Fund” in the memo area of each check.

Miami-based Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) has teams on the ground, loaded trucks with supplies and plans to provide emergency aid, and will provide support in reconstruction efforts.

People can be very opportunistic in these times so PLEASE watch out for scams. People will claim they want to help but are just trying to take your money. Do your research on an organization before donating!
