Margot Robbie, the actress playing the role of Barbie in the upcoming Barbie film, admits that she has hyped up the movie as if it cost a billion dollars to create.
"I think my pitch in the green-light meeting was the studios have prospered so much when they're brave enough to pair a big idea with a visionary director," she said. Robbie thought of ways the film could make enormous profits by looking back at past movies' success, "And then I gave a series of examples like, 'Dinosaurs and [Steven] Spielberg,' that and that, that and that — pretty much-naming anything that's been incredible and made a ton of money for the studios over the years."
It seems like it's working because the promotional marketing for this team is just as crazy as the Minion's marketing is. Robbie continued, saying, "And I was like, 'And now you've got Barbie and Greta Gerwig.' And I think I told them that it'd make a billion dollars, which maybe I was overselling, but we had a movie to make, okay?!"
Greta Gerwig is the movie's director, and it seems promising that this movie will go down in movie history and break records at the theaters.
