The numbers are getting larger and this thing is hitting closer and closer to home!
As we approach April, the confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States has now surpassed China and Italy making us the most infected country, according to Johns Hopkins University. Currently, out of the 85,653 U.S. citizens who have tested positive, over 1,100 have resulted fatal with Florida being the state with the 7th most cases. New York remains the epicenter for the disease in our country. This prompted President Donald Trump to officially declare our state a disaster zone, the White House website announced:
President Donald J. Trump declared that a major disaster exists in the State of Florida and ordered Federal assistance to supplement State, tribal, and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic beginning on January 20, 2020, and continuing.
The Presidentβs action makes Federal funding available for Crisis Counseling for affected individuals in all areas in the State of Florida.
Federal funding is also available to State, tribal, and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations for emergency protective measures, including direct Federal assistance, for all areas in the State of Florida impacted by COVID-19.
With the numbers rising and rising, this has taken a huge hit on our economy. Earlier today, it was reported that the figure for unemployment in the country has reached a new record β 3.2 million, twice what experts had projected. Of course now people are waiting on their piece of that $2 trillion economic relief package expected to be signed by the Prez on Friday. According to reports, single adults who make less than $75,000 will receive $1,200 plus an additional $500 for every household child. If you received your income tax by direct deposit you'll receive your share the same way, otherwise your check will be sent out to the last address the IRS has on file.
