Beginning today, Tuesday the 3rd of August, the two state-run COVID-19 testing sites at Miami Marlins Park and Hard Rock Stadium will offer 15-minute results to people 65 years of age and older, and people experiencing Coronavirus symptoms.
In a press conference held at the Broward Health corporate office, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis explained how the sites will handle 1,250 tests per day. The Miami Herald broke it down:
Both sites will use an antigen test called “Sofia SARS Antigen FIA” manufactured by the Quidel Corporation of Ohio, Moskowitz told the Miami Herald last week. It’s one of two antigen tests for COVID-19 approved for use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The tests — which measure a protein called an antigen that signals an immune response to the virus — first hit the market in May.
