This coming week is the start of a new chapter in 2020 for students and teachers – back to school!
For those parents who opted for the schoolhouse model, rather than distance learning, Monday October 5th is the beginning of physically walking back into the classrooms for their kids' education. The schedule is as follows:
Monday, Oct. 5th: Pre-K, Kinder, and 1st
Wednesday, Oct. 7th: Grades 2-6 and 9-10
Friday, Oct. 9th: Grades 7-8 and 11-12
High school hours will revert back to 7am for ALL students, and daily at-home health screenings are being urged by the school admins. As reported by NBC, some exceptions will be made for parents wanting to change their option now that they originally selected back in July. The Miami-Dade County Public Schools website released a statement:
"The safety of students, employees and their families has been the primary guiding principle throughout the District’s reopening efforts. Given that commitment, and in alignment with the recommendations provided by public health experts, the physical return will be staggered by grade levels, providing for a reduced school capacity and allowing for the testing of protocols and potential adjustments, prior to schools operating at full Stage II capacity."
