A recent Jet2 Airbus A321 flight was diverted in order to allow passengers to go to the bathroom, SimpleFlying.com reports.

The November 3 Flight LS782 from Gran Canaria Airport to Manchester Airport was already delayed one hour prior to takeoff at 5:03 local time when it turned east and landed at Bilbao Airport at 7:12 mid-flight due to on board toilets being broken, according to the @FlightEmergency Twitter account.

"Jet2 flight LS782 en route to Manchester from Gran Canaria has just diverted to Bilbao due to the toilets being broken on board and to allow passengers off to use the toilet," the account tweeted at the time.

The plane stayed on the ground for approximately two hours to allow passengers to use the bathroom before the flight continued.

The Airbus 321 plane includes four bathrooms and seats more than 200 passengers. Most of the passengers on board the Jet2 flight were reported to have stayed on the plane during the two-hour delay.

The Flight Emergency Twitter account shared a graphic of the plane's flight pattern, which showed that it continued its path to Manchester after the delay.

"Flight LS782 from Gran Canaria to Manchester was diverted to Bilbao yesterday so that the toilet tank could be emptied," a spokesperson for Jet2 issued a statement in response to the incident obtained by SimpleFlying.com. "Customers remained onboard, before the flight took off again to Manchester. As an award-winning airline, the comfort and well-being of our customers is of paramount importance to us; however, we apologise if this caused any inconvenience."
