A Legally Blonde spinoff series...what, like it's hard?
According to E! News, Reese Witherspoon has teamed up with Gossip Girl creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, to create a Legally Blonde TV series produced by Hello Sunshine! What's more, Savage, also behind teen drama masterpiece The O.C, is set to write the pilot episode for the series.
The feature film that took over cinemas in 2002 and made the world comfortable with using legal jargon in everyday life, is officially going to be a series that sparks a newfound love for the "bend and snap" in an entirely new generation. This is not the first time that talks of a spinoff have surfaced. In 2018, rumors regarding the possibility of a Legally Blonde 3 swirled, but were put to bed by writer Mindy Kaling in 2022 during an interview with Time Magazine.
"We don't want to be responsible for ruining what's basically Reese's Avengers franchise. What is Elle Woods like at 42? Does she end up becoming all the things she wanted? How does that personality manifest in a grown woman? Has she become more cynical? Her brightness and her cheerfulness really worked when she was 22, but how has life changed her perspective on things?"
Whoever said orange is the new pink might have seriously been disturbed, but Witherspoon, Schwartz, and Savage have just the solution to bring blonde justice back to the big screen! The highly-anticipated series will be available on Amazon Prime! An official release date and title have yet to be revealed as people everywhere attempt to crack the case in true Elle Woods fashion.
