Bryce James, the son of Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James, announced his commitment to the University of Arizona in a post shared on his Instagram account Wednesday (January 1).
"100% committed🔥👑," James wrote.
Bryce, 17, a senior at Sierra Canyon, is a three-star prospect and currently ranks as the No. 46 shooting guard, No. 30 player from the state of California and the No. 257 overall prospect for the 2025 national recruiting cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite, which tabulates rankings from multiple recruiting websites.
"Bryce James is the son of Lebron James and that means, like his older brother Bronny, he's under the microscope," 247Sports Director of Scouting Adam Finkelstein wrote in his analysis of the senior prospect. "Bryce needs to be given time and space to run his own race though. He may not be the dynamic athlete or playmaker some expect at first, but he is a fundamentally sound player with solid perimeter size and a good early skill-set.
"He possesses clear shooting potential with naturally soft touch, compact release, and the ability to make both threes and pull-ups. His left hand is advanced for his age and he also has a good early understanding of the game. Physically, he has a solid build for an underclassman, but is still just growing into his body a bit and so far from a finished product."
James' decision comes months after his father and his older, Bronny, became the first father-son duo to play together in NBA history when Bronny checked in to the Lakers' season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves on October 22.
