Having something on air for more than 5 years and still bring the ratings is amazing. Now, talk about 50 years!! That's right, “Saturday Night Live?” is going over the hill but now rumor has it that the sketch comedy show will end when Lorne Michaels steps down as showrunner. Kenan Thompson caught up with Charlamagne Tha God and talked about the possibility of the show ending.
Kenan said, “There could be a lot of validity to that rumor, because 50 is a good number to stop at. That’s an incredible package. He’s the one that’s had his touch on the whole thing, so if somebody tries to come into his shoes … ” Kenan also joked and said he needed to start looking for other opportunities.
But if it's just one guy leaving couldn't the rest of the cast and crew keep up the work? Kenan said, “I’m just saying it opens opportunity for a lot of bulls–t to come into the game. [Michaels] is such a legend that he keeps off those corporate wolves if you will.”
Let's hope it's not the end of another era, we had enough heartbreak with Ellen and other shows ending this year. My heart can't take another show coming to an end.
