LISTEN: One Of Florida's Largest Pride Festivals This Weekend

About 40,000 people are expected to pack into Wilton Manors Saturday for its 20th Stonewall Pride Parade and Festival.

This month also marks the 50th anniversary of New York's Stonewall riots, which sparked the gay rights movement.

That's led to this year's theme of Stonewall Pride 20/50, "remembering the past, celebrating the present, committing to the future," says Vice President of Development's James Forsythe.

Part of that remembrance is for the victims of Orlando's Pulse attack three years ago.

Wilton Manor's Stonewall Pride was the first Pride event held after the tragedy.

While the parade's more than 100 entrants don't step off until 4p, the festivities begin at 3p and don't end until the wee hours of the morning.

In order to ensure it's a safe event, organizer have spent the last six months working with multiple local police agencies plus the FBI and Homeland Security.

More than 250,000 people are expected take part in St. Pete Pride events which kick off next Wednesday and run through June 23rd.
