Uh oh, looks like Mariah Carey got a lump of coal for Christmas this year...
On Tuesday, the US Trademark Trial and Appeal Board ruled against her legal attempt to trademark the name “Queen of Christmas.” It was also ruled that she can’t trademark the titles “Princess of Christmas” or “QOC” either.
She wanted to trademark the Queen of Christmas title via her company, called Lotion LLC, to use on a line of merchandise that would include albums, fragrances, pet accessories, sunglasses and more.
The reason why her trademark was shut down was because there's another Christmas singer in town, Elizabeth Chan, who says she’s “the world’s only full-time pop Christmas recording artist.” As of writing, Chan has put out 12 Christmas albums.
