It’s that time of year- baby turtles are hatching on our beaches and making their way towards the ocean! Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has some tips is you happen to spot baby sea turtles walking along the beach. Sea turtle nesting season runs from March 1-Oct. 31 and it is important to keep your distance from sea turtles and their nests on the beach.
They say to let the turtles crawl towards the ocean on their own and don’t get too close because they can get confused and so lose their way. When they make their trip from their nest to the water they need to get familiar with their surroundings and females remember where their home beach is.
Also- keep in mind bright lights from buildings, cellphones or cameras can cause them to become disoriented. We know they're so cute and you want to take a picture, but it's best to just leave this adorable critters alone!
